Senior Recreation

Computer / Library & Pool Rooms

Individuals ages 50 and older may use the TV Room, Computer Lab, and Billiard Room whenever the Center is open, at no charge. Please see the front desk to obtain a Senior Identification Card to be granted access to the Computer Lab amenities.

Club Durazo

The purpose of Club Durazo is to inform, advocate, and foster activities that will improve the quality of life of all residents of the City of El Monte. These activities will marshal the resources within Los Angeles County in common, noble causes and address the intergenerational needs of our community, regardless of age or racial, religious, or ethnic background. Representative activities by this organization include outreach, education, counseling, trips, advocacy, volunteerism, fundraising, scholarships, as well as building fellowship. The club meets on the 2nd and 4th Tuesday of each month, at 12:00 p.m.

El Monte Senior Presidents' Council

The Presidents' Council (membership is made up of club presidents and Seniors of the Year) serves as the ambassadors and advocates of the El Monte Jack Crippen Multipurpose Senior Center, improving the quality of life for its citizens. Established in 1975 and recognized as a 503(c) tax-exempt organization in 1993, the Presidents' Council exists as an unincorporated association by its members. The purpose of the Presidents' Council is to bring together a closer relationship between clubs and organizations and their respective members, of the Jack Crippen Multipurpose Senior Citizens Center.

The Presidents' Council:

  • Sets standards for all clubs and activities to operate under
  • Promotes goodwill between the El Monte community and older adults
  • Plans various activities involving all seniors
  • Helps raise funds that enhance the operations and programs of the Jack Crippen Multipurpose Senior Center
  • Establishes and monitors quality control and performance of the Integrated Care Management and the Senior Nutrition Program.

Hispano Americano Club

The purpose of this Club shall be to promote fellowship, recreation, and charitable service projects, which will benefit the community at large, and an opportunity to participate in beneficial acts. This club will give a scholarship every year to a deserving student: Hispanic origin is desirable. The amount of the (scholarship) money and the designated school will be put to a vote by the members. The club meets every Wednesday at 1:00 p.m. 

Special Events

Trips and Tours are held once a month for El Monte residents 50 years of age and over. Trips are designed to encourage socialization amongst participants. Registration is on a first come first serve basis. For more information, please contact the Jack Crippen Senior Center at (626) 580-2210.
